THE CATHOLIC JOURNALIST CATHOLIC PRESS ASSOCIATION OF THE UNITED STATES AND CANADA VOLUME 68 NUMBER 3 APRIL 2016 STEAL THESE IDEAS The Catholic Journalist Catholic Press Association members regularly come up with good ideas. Here are two to "borrow" or emulate. The Leaven publishes a "Church of the Week" notice in its print edition under the kicker "WEB EXCLUSIVE." That print notice in the newspaper of the Diocese of Kansas City, Kansas, includes a small photo of the church, plus information such as address, phone, the pastor's name, Mass times and the parish web address. Accompanying icons promote broader coverage, including a video tour of the church and more photos, all of which can be viewed online at www.TheLeaven.org. We are proud to announce that both Robert DeFrancesco and Jeff Hensley have been re- elected to their positions. Newly elected as the Newspaper Editorial Staff Member, is Jennifer Brinker of the St Louis Review. Rob, a past-president, serves his third and final term as Western Regional Representative. Jeff is elected for his second term as Magazine Publisher Member. Both terms, as well as Jennifer's, begin at the annual meeting on June 2, 2016 and run through the annual meeting in June of 2019. At the same time we thank Ana Soto-Rodriquez for serving by appointment of the Board vacated when Bill Howard left his position in Colorado Springs. Ana made significant contributions to the strategic planning process this past November and has been a good-natured substitute secretary on quite a few occasions. Her publication recently renewed its CPA membership and their diocese will be developing an Integrated Communication Plan through the CPA consultation service. We hope to keep Ana involved and active in the association. Jennifer Brinker is the second candidate in consecutive years, nominated by members and then elected to the Board. She works for the St Louis Review, the host of our 2016 annual conference and joins the board under the title of Newspaper Editorial Staff Member.
